Animal Treasure Island (Dōbutsu Takarajima) (どうぶつ宝島) 1971

A few months ago, i decides to branch out into new depths and try to learn storyboarding. I started taking screen shots of my fave films shot by shot to study. and with hundreds of screen grabs, i thought i would start up this blog as well.

Animal Treasure Island is one of the few early Toei doga film to actually get a proper release in the west through Discotek media and is easy to get super cheap on ebay for a few bucks.

I think the film is fantastic with great staging and fabulous simplistic color backgrounds. Along with a few other Toei films is also an inspiration for Nintendo's Zelda: Windwaker and Phantom hourglass style (the pirate island spring to mind) which I'll do a post on soon.
